What will you be working towards?
This course is for those who wish to pursue a career in carpentry, either Site or Bench Carpentry. The course is based on day release at the Kings Lynn campus. The rest of the time will be on site with the employer. The NVQ (or work based recorder) is a log of specific work carried out on site and can consist of reports, photographs, peer reports, drawings, diagrams etc. Site assessment visits will be carried out by tutors and the work based recorder. The extended diploma provides the underpinning knowledge for the practical work as well as practical assessments of carpentry models in the college workshops. There will also be unit tests throughout the 2 year course. There is an end of 2nd year multiple choice external on-line examination as well as a health and safety examination, both of which must be passed before the diploma is achieved.
How will it be delivered?
The course is assessed through on-site assessments, college assessments, portfolio of evidence, and external exams.
This course is currently run on day release every Tuesday, the rest of the time will be spent on-site with your employer.
