Our A-Level in Maths will build upon your GCSE study, enhancing your skills in algebra and functions, equations and inequalities, curve sketching, coordinate geometry, series, calculus, exponential and logarithms, trigonometry and sine and cosine rules.
How will it be delivered?
There will be a total of six examinations, each lasting 1.5 hours. Students will follow a programme of formal class teaching supported by appropriate texts and computer software. Year 1 Module Pure Core 1 Mathematics This will include: - Algebra - Coordinate geometry - Differentiation and integrationA calculator is not allowed in this module.Module Pure Core 2 Mathematics This will include: - Further development of skills learnt in Pure Core 1 - Functions, sequences and series - Trigonometry and exponentials and logarithms Module Statistics 1 This introductory module includes: - Numerical measures - Probability - Binomial distribution - Estimation and correlation and regression Year 2 Module Pure Core 3 Mathematics This will include: - Further development of skills learnt in Pure Core 1 and Pure Core 2- Numerical measures Module Pure Core 4 Mathematics - Further development of skills learnt in Pure Core 3 - Vectors Module Statistics 2 - This will include: - Discrete random variables - Poisson distribution - Continuous random variables - Estimation - Hypothesis testing - Chi-squared contingency table tests
You will need:
GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above in English
Grade 6 (B) or above in Maths
At least three other GCSEs at grade 5 or above
