The course structure is designed to develop and enrich you as an artist or designer, challenging and extending your experience and understanding of a range of art and design practices. You will be supported in improving skills in creative problem solving, and you will gain an in-depth understanding of movements and genres of art and design.

The course is designed to encourage you to develop skills and creativity, imaginatively and independently. You will be encouraged to use combinations of specialist practical media and explore new and innovative ways of developing your artwork. We currently offer the following three specialist pathways: Fine Art, Graphic Illustration and Fashion and Textiles. Fashion and Textiles also has the opportunity to explore textiles for interiors.

Study trips are an exciting part of the course: you will have the opportunity to visit a range of UK galleries and museums and art and design fairs as well as the option of participating in an international trip.

How will it be delivered?

  • Practical Portfolio: The portfolio will consist of a sustained practical assignment with supporting contextual research the assignment demonstrates; research, ideas development, refinement and final solution.

  • Related Study: This consists of written and where appropriate illustrated work of 1500 words. The written work reflects the context of the practical portfolio work.
